Cellular Detection of Glutathione Using Synthesized Stable Sea Urchin-Like Gold Nanoparticles

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been widely studied in a great mass of cellular biomarkers detection and diagnostics due to their unique combination physical optical properties. Sea urchin-like gold (SUL-AuNPs) are well characterized multi-thorn nanostructures which possess at least four nanothorns on spherical surface, mimicking the morphology sea urchin. Compared AuNPs, SUL-AuNPs showed wide variety light absorption scattering properties, Surface-enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) properties were also dependent surface morphology. Herein, three different diameters based AuNPs seed-mediated growth method by altering amount reaction system had synthesized. The UV-vis spectrum synthesized displayed shift from 550 nm 650 compared AuNPs. FRET was applied for GSH hepatocytes cell extracts using rhodamine B (RB) functionalized SUL-AuNPs, among 100nm RB-SUL-AuNPs highest sensitivity detection. What's more, all turned out be membrane-permeable, ignorable cytotoxicity, make promising thiols probes. In particular, it should noted that application RB exemplify ongoing efforts design utility multifunctional nanoplatforms SUL-AuNPs.
